The Kazakhstan patients with different degrees of diseases have happily returned from Cuba, where they had a half-year medical rehabilitation.

Within the bounds of collaboration in the field of Public Health in May 2008, in the issue of decision of the Ministry of Public Health of RK commission, 22 patients were sent to the hospitals of national institution “Medical services of Cuba” for treatment. The Kazakhstan patients were rendered with high-specialized medical assistance in conditions of rehabilitation, resort treatment. Among them there were 15 children and 7 adults. The children were from 6 to 18 years old. For present-day 17 patients have returned from Cuba. In process of examinations Cuban medics distributed the Kazakhstan patients according to diseases complexity.

Two serious patients had unique surgeries with applying of high medical technologies. These patients had such complicated diagnoses as: “Congenital malformation of central nervous system development, arachnoidal cyst of posterior cranial fossa” and “Two-side paresis of larynx”. In six months these patients will have the second stage of medical rehabilitation in Cuba.

– We express our great thanks to the Ministry of Public Health of RK for giving us a rare possibility to get so high-specialized medical assistance in Cuba. During six months Cuban physicians struggled for my child’s life. He had a complicated diagnosis “Congenital malformation of central nervous system development, arachnoidal cyst of posterior cranial fossa”. During the period of treatment at the Cuban hospital my son Arsen had five step-by-step surgeries, in result of which my son can run and play as well as all healthy children. As a parent, I am very glad that my son received so wonderful chance and now his illness is defeated. Greater happy is impossible for me – said Amangeldy Zhunussov, a father of Arsen Zhunussov.
The patients with diseases of musculoskeletal system were rendered with rehabilitation treatment. The patients with diagnoses of cardiovascular system and organs of hearing were medicamentally treated.
For today all returned patients get domiciliary observation.
• We are very glad for our patients that they were given ability to receive a high-specialized assistance of our Cuban colleagues. Within the bounds of collaboration we extend our work in such priority medicine oblasts as ophthalmology, dermatology, transplantation of organs and tissues. In addition to that, for the nearest future it is planned to conduct a number of measures on exchange of experience in training and professional development of medical personnel, exchange of experts and specialists in the sphere of Public Health. Either some questions of mutually beneficial partnership in the sphere of medicines use are on approval now – said Zhanna Ospanova, Head of Bureau of mother and child health protection (MCHP).
At present, five patients have been continuing treatment in Cuba. Two of them are after complicated surgeries, with diagnoses “Multiple after-burning cicatrices of face, trunk, arms and legs. The 3-rd degree of flexion-extension contracture of fingers of both hands. Flexion contracture of one finger of left foot. Trophic ulcers of calcaneal regions” and “Arthrogryposis. Combined contracture of limbs. Flexion contracture of knee and ankle joints”. The rest three patients with diagnoses “Vitiligo” and “Psoriasis” have also been receiving high-specialized medical assistance in conditions of rehabilitation, resort treatment.
